“Motivation is the art of getting people to do what you want them to do because they want to do it.” -Dwight D. Eisenhower
This Friday, February 14, is Valentines Day. We should let our loved ones how much they mean to us everyday, but Valentines Day is special. For that person closest to your heart, treat them with flowers, a special gift, dinner out, or a couple of Hershey bars. Above all, tell them that you love them and will be there for them forever.
Next Monday, February 17, is Presidents Day. This means that you won’t be receiving any mail and the banks will probably be closed. I’m not sure if your trash will be picked up or not, but if it isn’t, it will be picked up one day later.
You can’t watch TV very long before you see an ad for Medicare. It seems that they want you to call and make sure that you are covered under any new plans that have come around since last year. I’m not that knowledgeable about Medicare, but since my latest health experience, I have come to appreciate the many parts of the program. Here’s a brief description of the various plans:
- Medicare Part A: This is the portion of Medicare that covers hospital stays, hospice care and some home services. Thanks to Part A, I have received Home Care from a nurse, physical therapist, and a occupational therapist. All three have kept me on track to a normal recovery from Heart Bypass surgery.
- Medicare Part B: This portion of Medicare covers doctor visits, diagnostic tests and other outpatient services.
- Medicare Part C: This is also known as “Medicare Advantage”. It provides Part A, Part B and usually Part D coverage to its members.
- Medicare Part D: This covers the cost of prescription drugs.
Then there’s Medicaid. This is the federal-state health insurance program for those with low incomes. Some Medicare beneficiaries can enroll in both Medicaid and Medicare. These individuals are called “dual eligibles”. Should you be totally confused by this time, please contact your insurance representative.

- “The best executive is the one who has sense enough to pick good men to do what he wants done, and self-restraint enough to keep from meddling with them while they do it.”
