Paw Paw baseball splits with Otsego

PAW PAW – Paw Paw played a varsity baseball doubleheader Wednesday at home against Otsego and came away with a split.
In game 1 the Red Wolves scored five runs in the first and held on for a 10-8 victory. Dylan Abnet battled for 5 plus innings, allowed 4 ER, and struck out 6 to get the win. Leading the offense was Drew Crain, Maverick Johnson and Gunnar Goodell.
Crain went 2-4 with a double and 3 RBIs. Johnson was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Gunnar was 1-2 with 2 RBIs and a BB. Jacob Major added a double and Landon Buhl had an RBI single. Ryan Holmes chipped in with a single and 2 BB. Nate collected 2 RBIs.
In game 2 the game was close throughout. The Bulldogs squeaked out a 3-2 win. A few mistakes on defense and cold bats led to the defeat. Jake Hindenach pitched 4 innings with two earned runs, and struck out five. Remi Dempsey pitched two strong innings allowing 0 runs and struck out 1. Jacob had an RBI single. The only other hits were singles by Crain, Holmes, Gunnar Goodell, and Landon Buhl. The Red Wolves record now stands at 16-9-1.
