Paw Paw football impressive against Vicksburg

PAW PAW – Last Friday night (Sept. 20) the Paw Paw Red Wolves traveled down to Vicksburg to take on the 2-1 Bulldogs. Paw Paw opened the game with an 80-yard drive that was capped off with a Bryson Newell 1 yard run and after a Dalton Eick kick it was 7-0.
Vicksburg wasted no time responding with an 80-yard kickoff return making it 7-7. Paw Paw on their next possession, again started from the 20 and pieced together another drive that was finalized with authority, when another power ranger, PJ DeYoung, raced into the endzone from 26 yards out.
Later in the second quarter, PJ scored again from 6 yards out and the Red Wolves took a 20-7 lead at halftime. In the second half it was all Red Wolves as Bennie fired up his afterburners and scored on runs of 11 and 17 yards giving Paw Paw a 34-7 win.
“The defense dominated the whole night playing fast and physical as a team shutting out the Bulldogs spread offense,” coach Dennis Strey said. “Leaders on the defense were Cody Connolly and Kaelin Tate. Behind the physically dominant blocking of the the front 7 of Barron Marrinich, Tyler Kruzinga, Austin Ackerman, Landon Buhl, Julian Hernandez, Darrin Strey, and Cody Connolly the Red Wolves amassed over 400 yards of total offense.
“Vicksburg was held to 63 total yards. Gunnar Goodell orchestrated flawlessly, completing key passes that allowed the Wolves to move the chains.Dalton Eick was once again perfect on point afters.”
