PAW PAW – Paw Paw head football coach Dennis Strey had his agenda set on Aug. 12 as he was starting practices.
“We will be working on fundamentals and focusing on Big Rapids,” he said, referring to the nonleague season opener at Big Rapids on Aug. 29.
“Week 2 we have a scrimmage at Wayland vs. Holland, Hastings, and Wayland. “Our numbers should be good and we have accomplished a great deal this summer and are getting faster and stronger.”
This is Strey’s second year of coaching the team. He was 9-2 a year ago.
The home opener for Paw Paw will be on Sept. 6 with Berrien Springs, followed by a home clash on Sept. 13 with Sturgis and a road game on Sept. 20 at Vicksburg. That will be followed by home games on Sept. 27 with Plainwell and on Oct. 4 with Edwardsburg. Then it’s on Oct. 11 at Three Rivers, Oct 18 at Otsego and at home on Oct. 25 with Niles.
Paw Paw started out the season 8-0 a year ago before losing to Niles 56-18 and also lost to Niles 42-13 in the playoffs; Paw Paw beat Big Rapids 34-13 to open the regular season at home.
