Paw Paw football to play Three Rivers in playoffs

PAW PAW — Paw Paw’s football team ended the regular season with a 42-6 victory over Vicksburg on Friday and will be playing Three Rivers in the district semifinals this Friday night.
Paw Paw is 6-3 and has won six straight including a 43–0 win over first-round opponent Three Rivers.
“We play Three Rivers and everyone in our district are Wolverine teams and know each other well. It is always tough to play a team twice in one year,” Wolves coach Dennis Stray said. “The team has played very well as of late and must keep getting better every week.
“The offensive and defensive line have done a great job opening up holes and keeping the pounds clean so they can make tackles. We need to continue working on all aspects of the game to keep getting better.”
Ben Miller leads the state in rushing with 1,799 yards on 186 carries with 28 TDS and two 2 point conversion.
“These two guys anchor the offensive and defensive lines and lead our team: Austin Ackerman has 59 tackles, four sacks, and 11 TFLs, two force fumbles. Tyler Kruizinga has 55 tackles with 3 TFLs. Ben Newell is a linebacker with 83 tackles, two sacks, and 9 TFLs. Eli Sonnenburg is a special teams leader in tackles and a DB with 51 Tackles with 1 TFL, one Sack, three interceptions, and 3 force fumbles.
It was Paw Paw over Vicksburg on Friday 42-6. Tonight Vicksburg traveled to Paw Paw for the final game of the regular season. Paw Paw won 42-6. Ben Miller only played the first half and tallied 206 yards on 17 carries for 3 TDs. Elias Sonneberg stepped in and rushed for 126 yards on 18 carries for 3 TDs. Vicksburg scored 2 Field Goals in the first quarter, but did not put together an offensive series after the 1st. It was Another outstanding outing by the defense which shut down Vicksburg. Paw Paw improves to 6-3 on the season, 6-1 in the Wolverine.
