PAW PAW — Paw Paw’s softball team is 28-2 after two wins on Saturday including a 6-5 edging of Mattawan.
Paw Paw also beat Wayland 11-4. Paw Paw lost to Unity Christian 12-0.
For Paw Paw against Mattawan, it came down to the wire.The game was tied 5-5 in the bottom of the seventh when an error scored the winning run for the Wolves.
Lauren MacKellar earned the pitching win over Mattawan. She gave up no runs on no hits in one inning. Cami VanderMeeen was the starting pitcher and gave four hits and five runs in six innings, striking out two.
Kyleigh Mason took the loss for Mattawan She went 5.2 innings allowing six runs on nine hits, striking out four and walking three.
Paw Paw had 10 hits. VandrMeeden had two RBIs and two hits. Alisha Edson and Bella Clemons both also had two hits for Paw Paw.
Grace Slyker, Penelope Cross, Haley Lhaman and Camryn Jilek had one hit apiece for Mattawan. Lhamon and Jilek both had RBIs. Grace Slyker stole two bases.
