
PAW PAW – Van Buren County Sheriff Daniel Abbott reported that on July 9, at approximately 7 a.m., the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, assisted by the Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit/Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, executed a search warrant in the 37000 block of County Road 665 in Waverly Township.
The search warrant was a result of an investigation into a tip that was forwarded to the sheriff’s office. A 35-year-old male suspect was suspected of being in possession of child sexually abusive material.
Upon execution of the search warrant, the male suspect was located at the residence. Numerous electronic devices were in the residence and seized because of the investigation. The male suspect was arrested as a result of the investigation and faces numerous criminal charges as a result of the investigation for possession of child sexually abusive material and using a computer to commit a felony.
The investigation is ongoing, and the sheriff’s office is working in conjunction with the Michigan State Police Internet Crimes against Children Taskforce. Anyone with information regarding the investigation is asked to contact the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office.
On July 11, suspect Travis Lane, 35, of Paw Paw, was arraigned in the 7th East District Court on the following charges stemming from this investigation:

Computers- using to commit a crime- maximum imprisonment 20+ years
