Paw Paw soccer expects around 30 players

PAW PAW – The practice season for coach Mike Lounsbury and his Paw Paw boys soccer team started on Aug. 12 and it’s going to be a very busy time.
“The first week of practice will be tryouts Monday and Tuesday followed by practice Tuesday and Thursday,” Lounsbury said. “Friday night we will have our annual alumni game where the JV and Varsity teams will combine to play a friendly scrimmage against past alumni from Paw Paw. Saturday both teams will take part in the Justin Bailey Memorial Soccer Shoutout at Portage Northern. The boys will play Bangor then Loy Norrix.
“Week two will start with practice Monday then a road game Tuesday against Mattawan. We will return for practice Wednesday followed by our home opener Thursday vs Hartford. We are expect between 26 and 30 players between the Varsity and Jv teams.
It was a busy summer for Paw Paw.
“The team has had good participation all summer at conditioning and at the Western Michigan University soccer camp,” Lounsbury said “Everyone is excited to get things officially moving forward at the start of the season.”
The season started with home games on Aug. 16 and Aug. 17 and a trip to Mattawan on Aug. 20.
