PAW PAW – The Paw Paw Village Council Monday night, Jan. 12, adopted the Local Government Approval Resolution for the Strand Theater to apply for a Redevelopment Liquor License for the theater.
With preliminary approval by the Paw Paw Village Council final approval lies with the State Liquor Control Commission when it processes Cook’s application.
Paw Paw Village Manager Bryan Myrkle, in a memorandum to Paw Paw Village Council, said Eric Cook, Strand Theater owner, made a presentation to the Paw Paw Village Council at its December meeting.
Myrkle said council members at that time did not express any reluctance to approve the request at that time. However, Myrkle asked that a vote be delayed until the January meeting in order that he could assemble the same documentation and information used in approving The Foundation restaurant’s similar request. The Foundation restaurant is currently under construction at a strip mall being developed on Kalamazoo Street.
“While we do not have a specific policy related to these requests, I do believe there is value in treating each applicant the same. I appreciate the council and Mr. Cook’s cooperation with that,” said Myrkle.
