Pedestrian struck by vehicle in Wayland, dies at hospital

Wayland police identified Dwayne Goodman, 59, of Wayland, as the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle on Monday, Dec. 8.
The crash happened around 7:20 a.m. in the 1100 block of West Superior Street, just east of U.S. 131.
He was found lying in the road with significant injuries. He was taken to a Grand Rapids hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The driver remained at the scene after the crash, police Chief Scott Matice said.
The crash remains under investigation.
Wayland police were assisted by Wayland Fire Department, Allegan County Sheriff’s Department, Michigan State Police and Wayland Area EMS.
