PPPS seeks public input to advance goals

PAW PAW – Paw Paw Public Schools invites parents/guardians and students to help advance two goals of the PPPS Strategic Plan in the areas of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and Creating a Culture of Kindness, Respect, and Safety.
1) PPPS parents interested in learning more about and reviewing Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) resources for themselves to come to one or more of three public review opportunities to be held this summer on the following dates, from 5 to 6 p.m. in the PPHS Library on the following dates:
June 28, from 5 to 6 p.m.
July 12, from 5 to 6 p.m.
Aug. 9, from 5 to 6 p.m.
To sign up for one or more these sessions, individuals may call the school’s Central Office at (269) 415 -5200 or stop in to pick up an application. Space will be limited to the first 30 parents to sign up for each session to provide required technology and logistical support. If demand is higher than the spaces for these three scheduled sessions, additional sessions will be scheduled in August.
To assure all those interested can attend a session, individuals will be limited to one session until all spaces are filled. If space is available, individuals who wish to attend more than one session will be invited in order their sign-up document was received.
2) Stakeholders are also invited to join the PPPS Stakeholder SEL Committee. The committee will include parents/guardians and students who will be in grades 5-12 next year. SEL is an important part of the PPPS Strategic Plan, and it is the school district’s goal to have a program understood and supported by the district’s parents and students. This committee will learn about and experience SEL lessons, talk about implementation, and provide feedback to the school district on implementation of the SEL program. Additionally, the committee will be asked to think about how SEL can best support the creation of a Culture of Kindness, Respect, and Safety, a goal of the PPPS Strategic Plan.
To be considered for this committee, individuals are asked to complete an application by June 13. The goal is to enlist a group of 17 stakeholders for the SEL committee, with representation from the elementary, middle school, and high school levels. This committee will begin work this summer and through the 2022-23 school year.
Meetings will be held on the following dates. Additional meetings TBD will be scheduled during the 2022-23 school year.
June 28, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
July 12, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
August 9, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
If you would like to be considered for this committee, applications are available at Central Office or by calling (269) 415-5200. Applications will be closed June 13, at 9 a.m.
