With sadness over the loss of Commissioner Dean Kapenga (Dean), we seek to honor Dean’s
excellent citizen representation and service by accepting applications for the vacant District #3
County Commissioner position. Under MCL 46.412, the Board must appoint a Commissioner by
September 4, 2024, to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term, which expires on December
31, 2024. Applicants must be residents and registered voters of District #3. Experience and
familiarity with county government is preferred.
District #3 represents Casco, Cheshire, Clyde, Ganges, Lee, Manlius, and Saugatuck Townships,
and the Cities of Douglas, Saugatuck, Fennville, and a portion of South Haven.
Applications will be accepted until August 19, 2024, by 5 PM.
