Resident worries about alternative trucking route on 6th Street

By Genine Hopkins

Connie Marr brought to attention at the June 3rd Village of Marion meeting her concerns regarding the truck traffic on 6th Street due to the alternative truck route from 20 Mile (Main Street). Her concern was for children and pets playing in front yards.
Unfortunately, due to the age of the bridge near the Village offices, that additional route is necessary due to weight limits. Part of the bridge is new but a portion of it is many decades old and unable to sustain the weight of transport trucks.
Village council members listened to her concerns and Marr hopes that perhaps in the future funding can be found to shore up the bridge to allow it to increase its weight limits.
