Richard F. “Mello” Duffy, 62, of Chicago, passed away on Feb. 20, 2022 in Saugatuck.
Richard was born in Chicago to John Richard and Florence (Patrice “Tiny”) Duffy on July 22, 1959. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business and finance from Illinois State University.
He worked as a trader in financial futures for DKB and The Chicago Mercantile Exchange for a number of years before choosing his next venture to reside in Saugatuck.
Richard enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and had a very fond love for the game of golf. Nothing made him happier than being with his three daughters. He referred to them as his “Three C’s.”
Richard is survived by his daughters, Collette Duffy and Colleen (Drake Orser) Duffy of Chicago, Caroline (Trevor) Gentry of Saugatuck; brother, Kevin Duffy of Hinsdale, Ill.; sister, Patty Bryja of Johnson City, Tenn.; grand dogs, Doss & George; nieces and nephews, Christie Duffy, Michael Bryja, Joseph Bryja, John Duffy, Robert “Bobby” Bryja, along with the entire Cronin family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia “Patti” Duffy; parents, John and Florence Duffy; and his special dog son, Rocco.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 4 from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church (4801 Main St. Downers Grove, Ill.). A funeral mass will take place following at 11 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, and Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
