Rosemary Lightfoot (born: 5/10/29; deceased: 12/27/21) 92 years old Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, family member, and friend was delivered on the arms of angels to her everlasting home on December 27, 2021. Rosemary passed away peacefully in her sleep after a brief illness. Rosemary was born May 10, 1929, in Saginaw, Michigan to Charles and Sophie (Meshinski) Hickey. She was the oldest sister to Joanne, Jim, Ellen, John, Patrick, Alice, and Joseph. Rosemary married the love of her life, Rodger Lee Lightfoot, on May 22, 1948. Together they raised a beautiful family and shared a wonderful life together. In May of 1998 they celebrated 50 years of marriage. Rodger went home to his final resting place on May 6, 1999. Upon Rosemary’s retirement from U.S. Graphite and Wickes Corp, they moved to Lake, MI where Rosemary was elected Freeman Township Treasurer for over 20 years. She enjoyed many conversations with the good residents who stopped by to pay their taxes. She was also, very active in St. Agnes Catholic Church, Marion, MI for many years. Besides being a loyal Michigan Wolverine and Detroit Tigers fan, Rosemary enjoyed dancing at the Swiss Inn (Lake George), shopping, yard work, and most importantly, spending time with her family. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she truly enjoyed showering her family with gifts! Rosemary is survived by 3 children: Carol Ann & Adam Fairchild (Saginaw, MI), Mark & Lori Lightfoot (Lake, MI), and Paul & Julie Lightfoot (Lake, MI). 5 Grandchildren: Jeremy, Teresa, Jason, Kevin (Charity), and Robert (Sarah). 7 Great Grandchildren: Autumn, Max, Andrew, Alexa, Shannon, Dakota, and Pierson. 1 Great Great Granddaughter: Violet. Rosemary was predeceased by 2 infant children: Michael and Alice, and 1 grandson: Michael. Also surviving are sister Joanne (Tony) Lagalo, brothers Patrick (Janet) Hickey and Joseph (Cathy) Hickey, sister-in-law Ellen Hickey, sister-in-law Dorothy Lightfoot, and many, many nieces & nephews. Rosemary was also predeceased by her parents Charles & Sophie, in-laws Stanley & Maude Lightfoot, sisters Alice Austin & Ellen Schultz, brothers John Hickey & Jim Hickey, sisters-in-law Patricia Hickey & Louise Hernden, and brother-in-law Stanley Lightfoot. Our mother was one of the strongest women we knew. She was beautiful inside & out and had the biggest, selfless heart. She was always there for everyone and asked for very little in return. She has truly left a big hole in many hearts and will be deeply missed by all that were lucky enough to have her in their lives. At Rosemary’s request, cremation has taken place.
