SHAES constructs historical table

By Tom Renner

The firehouse is “home” to first responders whose 24-hour shifts include eating meals together. A growing staff at South Haven Area Emergency Services (SHAES) created a challenge of getting everyone around the table at mealtime.
Some imaginative thinking by firefighters, combined with the creative work of two local businesses, Goose Nest Woodworks and Lakeshore Iron, resulted in the construction of a table that is not only larger, but is steeped in the history of the department. The table surface consists of patient backboards no longer in service. Its metal base features the logo of the department connected by a ladder. Embedded in epoxy on the table are logos and other historical memorabilia.
