SISTER LAKES – A 23-year-old Benton Harbor man was arrested and charged with the death of his 55-year-old mother, following an early morning Oct. 31, break-in at the woman’s Sister Lakes home, according to a press release from the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office.
Van Buren County Sheriff Daniel Abbott reported that on Oct. 31, at approximately 5:15 a.m., Van Buren County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a breaking and entering in progress at a residence in Sister Lakes, Keeler Township.
Upon their arrival, an unresponsive female was located at the residence. Life saving measures were taken to try to save the female, but she succumbed to her injuries. The suspect was located nearby and taken into custody.
The suspect, Aiden Andrew White, was arraigned in 7th East District Court, Paw Paw, on the charge of open murder and first-degree home invasion. His bond was set at $2 million (cash/surety).
The victim was identified as Gloria White, 55, the mother of the suspect.
Aidan White remains in custody at the Van Buren County Jail.
His next scheduled hearing has been set for Dec. 11.
