SOUTH HAVEN – The South Haven Police Department released the following statement on Monday, Sept. 30, regarding the investigation into anti-Semitic fliers that were distributed in several neighborhoods overnight (Sunday, Sept. 29).
“The South Haven Police Department condemns in the strongest terms the distribution of anti-Semitic fliers found in our community. These hateful messages do not reflect the values of our city, and we are actively investigating this incident to hold those responsible accountable.
“Our officers quickly responded to reports of the fliers and have identified a suspect following a thorough investigation. Officers have made contact with the individual involved, and while no formal charges have been filed yet, we are working closely with local prosecutors to ensure that justice is served.
“Hate speech and actions aimed at intimidating or threatening any group in our community are unacceptable and will not be tolerated. We have increased patrols in the affected areas and will continue to prioritize the safety and security of all residents.
“We understand the concerns raised by this incident and remain committed to supporting and protecting our diverse community. We encourage anyone with additional information to come forward and assist in this investigation.
“The South Haven Police Department stands in solidarity with the Jewish community and all who reject hate in any form. We will continue to work with community leaders and organizations to foster an inclusive and respectful environment in the City of South Haven.
