South Haven’t baseball team lost 2-1 to Holland Christian on May 27 in first-round action
South Haven’s season ended at 15-10.
South Haven coach Dave McWhinnie commented:
“It was a good game, right down to the wire. They played a little bit cleaner than we did. In a tight game, it comes down to who can take care of the ball.
“We always talk about limiting the “freebies” or free bases. We gave up then they did and it cost us. It was a good season for us. This team was a lot of fun to be around and coach everyday.This is a great group of guys.”
Max Verseput started on the game for South Haven and recorded 19 outs Verseput singled into right field to help South Haven tie the game the bottom of the fit. But it would be South Haven’s only run.
Verseput took the pitching loss for South Haven. He went 6.1 innings giving up two runs on three hits and striking out eight and walking three.
Verseput had two hits and one run batted in.
South Haven split a double-header with Holland on May 23, winning the first game 4-1 and losing the second 8-3.
