The Michigan state average is up 6 cents from last week

Gas prices in Michigan are up 6 cents from a week ago. Michigan drivers are now paying an average of $3.10 per gallon for regular unleaded. This price is 6 cents more than this time last month and 13 cents more than this time last year.
Motorists are paying an average of $46 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline; a discount of about $12 from 2023’s highest price last August.
According to new data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gasoline demand rose slightly from 8.81 million b/d to 8.92. Meanwhile, total domestic gasoline stocks rose from 219.7 million barrels to 222, while gasoline production decreased, averaging 9.9 million barrels daily.
At the close of Wednesday’s formal trading session, WTI rose 50 cents to settle at $70.58 a barrel. The EIA reports that crude oil inventories decreased by a mere 0.9 million barrels from the previous week. At 421.0 million barrels, U.S. crude oil inventories are about 6% below the five-year average for this time of year.
AAA forecasts 3.4 million Michiganders will take a road trip over the year-end holiday period. Gas prices will be slightly higher this holiday season compared to 2023. The Michigan state average last Christmas Day was $2.96. Currently, Michigan drivers are finding an average price of $3.10.
“As drivers across Michigan hit the road for the year-end holidays, they are finding slightly higher prices at the pump,” said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA-The Auto Club Group.
Compared to last week, Met ro Detroit’s average daily gas price increased. Metro Detroit’s current average is $3.06 per gallon, about 4 cents more than last week’s average and 8 cents more than this same time last year.
