
On Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 7:12 a.m., the Paw Paw Fire Department was dispatched to the 42000 block of M-43 Highway for a report of a fully involved garage fire. Units arrived on scene at 7:19 a.m. and reported a travel trailer fully involved with an exposure to a nearby garage. It was reported that one person was unaccounted for but was later determined not to be in the travel trailer. The fire was under control at 7:33 a.m. A total of 18 PPFD members responded. No injuries were reported and the exact cause is unknown at this time. All units cleared the scene at 8:31a.m. The Paw Paw Fire Department was assisted by the Bloomingdale and Lawton fire departments, Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office and Van Buren Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Richardson said with a PPFD tanker out of service, the department called for a tanker from Bloomingdale. PPFD was on auto-aid for a tanker from Lawton.
