Local children and their families were fortunate to enjoy a Halloween trunk or treat event hosted by LaFayette Main Street in downtown on Alabama Avenue East between LaFayette Street South and First Street Southeast during the early evening hours of Thursday, October 31st of 2024. Traffic was blocked off beginning at noon central standard time in preparation for making space for trick or treaters and the parked vehicles forming the trunk or treat displays which provided candy and other assorted goodies.
In a Facebook post to their official page promoting the event, LaFayette Main Street announced “Get ready for the LaFayette Main Street Trunk or Treat! Road are closed and trunks have started decorating! We are gearing up to make this the best one yet! This is a free community wide event and all are welcome. While downtown, also check out our first Mural! It already looks amazing and we are thankful for the Department of Tourism grant that made this possible. Thank you also to Mr. Jim Frank for his artistic talents! Can’t wait to see all tonight for great costumes, treats and fun!”
Providing further context for the event, another post stated “We are dedicated to creating a vibrant downtown where friends gather, businesses thrive, memories are made, and communities grow stronger. This is the place to go to feel connected. Tomorrow night’s Trunk or Treat is just one example of the many events exemplifing that we are creating a vibrant downtown! Come out and see kids laughing together, faith based organizations sharing their mission, civic clubs providing outreach, businesses and citizens networking, and the true love for our town. Join the fun!! We also cannot wait to see the cute decorations and costumes”.
During midst of the fall festivities, LaFayette Main Street Executive Director who was dressed for the occasion in a jar of salsa costume live streamed a Facebook video where she remarked “Hello everyone, we are here at the LaFayette Main Street Trunk or Treat here in downtown.
