Two die in US-127 two-vehicle crash

On Sunday, January 18, 2026 at approximately 12:19 p.m. the Clare County Central Dispatch received a report of a two-vehicle crash on southbound US-127 near Colonville Rd in Grant Township. Initial reports indicated a vehicle traveling on northbound US-127 had crossed over the median and struck a vehicle traveling southbound head on.
Deputies from the Clare County Sheriff Office, as well as officers from the Clare City Police Department, Clare Fire Department and Mobile Medical Response Ambulance Services responded to the scene.
Upon investigation, Deputies determined a blue in color 2015 Ford F-150 driven by a 50-year-old Monica Jones from Interlochen Michigan had been traveling north on US-127, when the driver crossed the median onto the southbound side and struck a 2019 white in color Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 50-year-old Gregory Wagner from Fort Wayne Indiana.
As a result of the crash, both the female driver from Interlochen and the male driver from Fort Wayne sustained life ending injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene. A 16-year-old male passenger was transported from the crash scene to MidMichigan hospital in Midland Michigan, where he was later transferred to the University of Michigan Health for further medical treatment.
The crash remains under active investigation. The Clare County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Clare City Police Department, the Clare Fire Department, Mobile Medical Response ambulance services and the Harrison Community Fire Department.
