Two to oppose Brown for South Haven mayor

James Windell

Several candidates in the races for South Haven’s Mayor and for open City Council positions met the filing requirements and will appear on the August Primary ballot.
Incumbent Mayor Annie Brown will be opposed by present City Council member Mary Hosely and by Joshua Lemmer.
Running for the soon-to-be-vacant City Council position in Ward One are Eddie Polk, Lisa Krupiarz, and Samantha Kellum. The current City Council member, Joe Reeser, is unable to seek another term because of term limits. City Council members can only serve for two four-year terms. City Council member Letitia Wilkins’s term will end next year.
In Ward Two, Wendi Onuki will not be seeking a second term, and three candidates have filed for the vacancy. Those three are Kent Brindley, Thomas Capps, and Todd Heinrich. Council member Jeff Arnold, also from Ward Two, is not up for re-election.
David Flack is the only person who filed to run for the open position in Ward Three. That position is available because George Sleeper has served two terms and is ineligible to run again. Mary Hosely’s term is not up this year, but she is running for mayor. Should she be elected, her position on the City Council would be filled by an appointment by the City Council.
The Primary Election takes place on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, and the mayor and new council members will be decided in the November, 2025 election.
