Lawrence to welcome Santa Claus
LAWRENCE – The 11th annual Lawrence Hometown Christmas Celebration will be held Saturday, Dec. 6, with a Light Up Parade at 6 p.m., beginning at Lawrence Public Schools, and will travel to the Lawrence Village Park, where the Village Christmas Tree will be lit at 6:30 p.m., following the parade. The Lawrence High School Band will present a selection of Christmas carols. Parade awards will be handed out in the park. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served at the Lawrence American Legion Hall at 7 p.m.
Afternoon activities from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Lawrence Branch of the Van Buren District Library will include crafts and cookies followed by a visit from Santa Claus.
The Lawrence Hometown Christmas Craft Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lawence Township Hall.
At the American Legion Hall, the movie, “The Santa Clause” will be shown from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
Lighted truck parade from Oshtemo to Coloma to be held Saturday, Dec. 6
The third annual Lighted Truck Parade will be held Saturday, Dec. 6. The staging location is 5380 International Drive, Kalamazoo. Departure time is 6 p.m.
Approximate arrival times in towns are: Oshtemo - 6:10 p.m.; Mattawan - 6:20 p.m.;
Paw Paw – 6:40 p.m.; Lawrence – 7 p.m.; Hartford – 7:20 p.m.; Watervliet – 7:40 p.m. It will end in Coloma at approximately 8 p.m.

Lawton to hold “Christmas in the Village” Friday, Dec. 12
LAWTON – “Christmas in the Village” will be held in Lawton, Friday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m. The Lawton Lighted Christmas Parade will begin at 7 p.m. The parade route runs from James Street to the Lawton Village Hall.
Prior to the parade, a Tree lighting Ceremony, sponsored by the Lawton Summerfest Committee, will be held at 6:45 p.m. at Reid’s Corner. Following the parade, Santa and Mrs. Clause will be at the Lawton Village Hall. Hot chocolate and cookies will be available. Buster’s Hayrides will be available in front of the Lawton Fire Department.
Santa Run to be held Dec. 13
PAW PAW – The Paw Paw Area Rotary Club will host its 14th annual 5K Santa Run and 1Mile Fun Walk on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 9 a.m. at Freshwater Community Church.
Proceeds from the run will be used to further the Rotary Club’s efforts both locally and worldwide.
Each participant receives a five-piece Santa suit that is worn during the run/walk. Those under 12 will receive a Santa hat.
A $100 donation will be made to Rotary’s International WASH Program on behalf of the men’s and the women’s first place runners. Rotary’s WASH initiative works to bring clean water, sanitation and hygiene programs worldwide to communities in need
Early sign up is $25, by Dec. 10, online at runsignup.com. After that, registration increases to $30 and registration may be made on event day.
In case of bad weather, the event will be canceled by 7:30 a.m. on event day.
Kal-Haven Lions Club to hold Kids Christmas Party
GOBLES – The Kal-Haven Lions Club will hold a free Kids’ Christmas Party, Saturday, Dec. 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Gobles United Methodist Church, 210 E. Exchange St.
Santa will pay a visit. Food will be available. Children will be able to choose a gift, and there will be a turkey raffle.
