Marion Village Council approved the special request for fireworks on the Saturday, August 3, 2024, at dark. The fireworks will be set off over the Mill Pond on the Albert’s property.
The council held a special meeting just prior to their regularly scheduled village meeting, at 6:45 p.m., to allow public comment and discussion over the planned fireworks.
“I know there were some complaints before,” said Village Clerk Connie Zuiderveen, “Some residents in the neighborhood said they would’ve made plans if they’d know about the event before it happened, but there was not warning.”
Village President Flora Grundy plans to make sure there is plenty of notification.
“I know we sent notifications to the paper, but I will double check that. Plus it will be on our website and also on our Facebook page, to insure everyone is aware that might be affected.”
The board unanimously approved the fireworks.
