LaFayette High School Alumni got a surprise on 2024 Homecoming Alumni Picnic Day with a visit from American rapper Micah Levar known as Pastor Troy.

The theme this year for the alumni picnic was “The Takeover” and that’s exactly what the Alumni classes did.

The alumni picnic first started in 2012 and has not stop growing nor missed a beat since.

The event started out with a one-day picnic and has now grown out to a full planned week of celebration.

This week started at the Alfa Building for an All-Black Day Party. The Day was filled with lots of fun/laughter/music/food and of course dancing.

Tuesday the Alumni classes traveled down to Auburn Al to Bowl at the Good Times Bowling Alley followed by Wednesday at Wild Wing Cafe In Opelika.

Thursday was back in LaFayette for the Homecoming Parade with the LaFayette High School Football Team and Band followed by a double round of bonfires to end the night.

Friday, was the tailgating at the LaFayette Bulldogs Homecoming Game at the Bulldog Stadium, where the Bulldogs demolished Coosa Central 48-8. The alumni completed the night with an Alumni Party at the Chambers County Sportsman Club and Saturday was the actual Alumni Picnic Day held at the band field.

This year the class of 1999 was the host. And the day started out with tents up, grills smoking, music playing, kids bouncing in bouncy houses, and line dancing.

There was a tent decoration contest which was won by the Class of 1980, there were best class shirts competition, tug-a-war and sack racing games,
But, the big surprise of the day was when American rapper Micah Levar known as Pastor Troy visited the LaFayette Alumni Picnic. Pastor Troy made himself at home in the Bulldogs territory.

Pastor Troy was not a stranger. He walked around and took photos with the alumni classes and enjoyed the experience of being a LaFayette Bulldog.

The day ended with a gathering at the LaFayette City Avondale field to say goodbye.
