Wayland students, coaches fight cancer

Students, staff, and community members are encouraged to not only participate by purchasing T-shirts, but attend the home games for Competitive Cheer, Basketball, and Bowling. Wayland Union Public Schools are out to beat cancer, and the entire school district is determined to assist the American Cancer Society in the fight. Wayland Union students scheduled their annual Coaches vs Cancer fundraising activities for January 12 – 16, 2026. During the week, events will highlight competition during which money will be collected for the American Cancer Society.
The fundraising began with the selling of merchandise that spotlights the Coaches vs Cancer theme. For those who purchased a T-shirt from the WUHS Student Council, free admission was given to home games:
Wed., Jan. 14th, 6:30pm: Competitive Cheer
Fri., Jan. 16th, 6 & 7:30pm: Boys and Girls Basketball
Wed., Jan 21st, 3:30pm: Bowling vs TK
Though the orders for T-shirts were due on Sunday, January 11, 2026, the shirts will be sold at athletic events until January 16th.
