Stephanie Davis, a 30-year-old woman from South Haven was arrested on August 22, in connection to multiple child sexual abuse offenses, according to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office.
The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office arrested Davis after their Criminal Investigations Division and Michigan State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a tip of a possible child exploitation case. Investigators executed a search warrant for her home, on County Road 687 near the Phoenix Street intersection in Geneva Township.
Davis is facing a total of 13 charges including counts of first and second-degree criminal sexual conduct. She faces additional charges of manufacturing child sexually abusive activity and using a computer to commit a crime.
The Assistant Prosecutor explained in court that was only the beginning of Davis’s alleged crimes. The assistant prosecutor claimed when discussing the matter of bond that Davis allegedly was making videos of the abuse and “passing them along to other predators on the internet.”
Magistrate James Becker reportedly denied Davis’s bond request stating, “I do find proof of your guilt is evident, specifically admissions that you made as to these matters,” adding “Also the fact that these crimes are preserved in video.”
Davis is scheduled to appear before Judge Arthur Clarke in the 7th District Court in Van Buren for a probable cause conference on September 4 at 2:15 pm and a preliminary examination on September 11 at 9:00 am.
If convicted she could spend the rest of her life in prison.
