Woman in stable condition after overdose

FLOWERFIELD TWP. — St. Joseph County sheriff’s deputies say a woman is in stable condition following a reported overdose late last week.
According to the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched on Feb. 20 to the 15000 block of South Street in Flowerfield Township for a report of an overdose. Upon arrival, Narcan was administered and CPR was started on a 47-year-old woman. She was then transported to a local hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Schoolcraft Police Department and the Three Rivers Fire Department. Deputies say they are grateful for the coordinated response and teamwork that led to a positive outcome in the emergency, adding that preparedness and rapid response played a critical role in stabilizing the woman until advanced medical care could be provided.
Deputies remind the community that substance use has an “ongoing impact” in the community, and that addiction is a “serious public health issue.” If you or someone you know is experiencing a medical emergency related to drug use, you are asked to call 911 immediately.
