Work on Maple Island Pedestrian Bridge underway

The Maple Island Pedestrian Bridge is currently being removed and replaced with a new bridge this summer. Work began earlier this month. Maple Island Park will be closed for the duration of the project, which is anticipated to run through October. The parking lot across the street from the bridge will also be closed, as it will be used for equipment staging. There will be a period of approximately 10 days to 2 weeks during the project where there will be noise from pile driving. The new bridge pilings must be driven 30 feet below the lake bed. This activity will be limited to daytime hours and not at all on Sundays.
