4th of July celebrations, events all over area

Farwell Figure 8 and more
Farwell has some big plans in the works for the holiday weekend this year.
TNT will present a Figure 8 Derby, Bump & Run, Gut n’ Go and a front wheel drive Demo Derby at the fairgrounds (221 S. Webber Street) on July 6th.
The event begins at 7 pm and will feature:
*Big Car FWD (front wheel drive);
*Small Car Mod FWD;
*Small Car Stock FWD BNR (Bump ‘n Run);
*YOUTH Stock FWD BNR;
*Powderpuff Stock FWD BNR;
There is a $50 entry fee for car & driver, except for the Powerwheels event for youngsters. Pit passes are $20 for all ages, and all cars need to be registered one (1) hour prior to showtime.

4th annual Farwell Corn Hole Tournament
Farwell Parks and Recreation Director Rachel Humphrey said the 4th annual Corn Hole Tournament will take place on July 6th at the Farmer’s Market building, 124 W. Illinois Street in the Village. Registration for the annual event begins at 11 am and the Tournament will start and bags will fly at 11:30 am. The competition usually lasts until around 2 pm, she said. Cost to participate is $30 per two-person team and there will be cash prizes for 1st and 2nd place winners.

Lake George 5K Run/Walk
Join in the fun Saturday, July 6th for Lake George 5K Run/Walk, a fundraiser for the Lake George Excellence Award, a newly formed student athlete scholarship created by the Lake George Property Owner’s Association and funded by the LGMI 5K Run/Walk event.
The times are from 8:30 am to 10 am and the run begins at the Lincoln Township Hall in Lake George (175 Lake George Avenue.
The Lake George Excellence Award not only recognizes athletic prowess but also emphasizes the importance of character and academic achievement. These student athletes serve as role models for their peers, demonstrating that success extends beyond the scoreboard.
Money raised from this event will go to three exceptional graduating student athletes each receiving a cash stipend of $500 in recognition of outstanding achievements both on and off the field.

Lake George Parade
For even more 4th of July fun, you won’t want to miss the Street Parade in the little Village of Lake George on Saturday, July 6th. The parade is scheduled from 12:00 pm (noon) to 2 pm beginning at the old Hamlin ball fields. Registration begins at 11 am at the Old Hamlin ball fields and the parade will go to Bringold Rod Road to Windover Road.

Harrison District Library
Harrison District Library will be holding its regular Cards & Coffee at 10 a.m., its Crafts & Conversation and Hooks & Needles at 1 p.m. Come into the Harrison District Library in their beautiful location at 125 W. Beech Street in Harrison.

Harrison District Library will be holding a “Young & Restless” Story time for toddlers and preschool children from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Harrison District Library at 125 W. Beech Street in Harrison 

Harrison Mud Bog & Fireworks.  
Mud Bog at the Clare County Fairgrounds starts at 5 p.m.  Fireworks start AFTER Mud Bog or dusk at the Clare County Fairgrounds.  Ticket prices for the Mud Bog are 6 years of age an up $15; 5 years of age and under FREE.

Art with Amy at the Clare Union Train Depot. 
Artist will be creating Tree of Life Pendant.  Cost is $45 with a $20 deposit.  Call Carron at 989-698-6539 to reserve a spot.

 Harrison
 Harrison July 4th Parade.  Theme: Fun in the Sun.  Line up begins at 9 a.m. at the Clare County Fairgrounds.  Parade starts at 11 a.m. sharp!  Runs from Fairgrounds through Harrison south to the County Building area.
