Allegan County towns spotlight music, fun and food

The Black River Band is a favorite around Southwest Michigan, so it was quite appropriate for the group to open the Pullman Summer Saturday Concerts & Food Trucks at the Pullman Town Square on Sat., June 28, 2025. The fine music was accentuated with fine food by El Buen Taco. Families enjoyed the parklike atmosphere in which to relax after an extremely hot weather week. To escape the warm temperatures, the crowd at ReelPlay enjoyed indoor activities. Photo courtesy of Beautify Pullman

Following the entertainment around Allegan County can be a bit overwhelming. There are numerous choices of location, music genres, comedy, theater and food. Just follow the sounds. Just one example was the weekend of June 27-29, 2025, that offered entertainment in different quadrants around the county. The 4th of July Weekend will have special effects, but there is so much more every weekend.
The June 27th Fourth Friday in Fennville brought the Color Run. And if the Run was not colorful enough, it was accentuated with other activities like face painting and more.
For Friday goers who wished to sit back and enjoy some music while watching kids cool off on the Perrigo Splash Pad, Rollin’ on the River kicked off with Asamu Johnson and The Associates of The Blues on the Allegan Riverfront Main Stage.
On the other side of Brady Street, Sherwood’s Cove invited musical artists to participate in Karaoke by Rhythmology.
For the sports-minded and disc golf enthusiasts, the Allegan Baptist Church held a fundraiser for the Congregational Church Kitchen. The course was illuminated with glow-in-the-dark discs and goals. Contributions were made to assist the kitchen in meeting food needs.
Saturday evening found Pullman residents enjoying their first Pullman Summer Saturday Concerts & Food Trucks at the Pullman Town Square. Concert goers were able to enjoy offerings from El Buen Taco as they lounged around the park.
Sandy Pines featured an evening of music for their residents, campers and special visitors with the Erika Scherry Band at their Phase 1 Outdoor Pavilion.
In the later evening Sherwood’s Cove featured Ty Mead and Stone Norment during a Comedy Showcase that included Randy Lee, Nicole Melnyk, Jogun Herrera, Armando Sanchez and Ben Champion. The Showcase was hosted by Jay Wap.
The beauty of these activities is that they are FREE. Residents and visitors can choose the event that is best for the family or individual and enjoy. The summer will continue to expand offerings with Good Times at the Gazebo in the newly renovated Mahan Park starting on Saturdays in July. Over in Saugatuck there will be wonderful Art Fairs plus the opening of Come from Away. Concerts will continue in Pullman, Fennville and Wayland.
While the entertainment is especially enticing, there are also Farmers Markets that run weekly on Wednesdays through Saturdays depending on the community.
