Clare boy runners fifth at Shepherd

CLARE – Clare’s boys cross country team was fifth among 10 schools on Wednesday in the Shepherd John Bruder Classic Large Schools Division.
South Lyons was first with 65, followed by Shepherd with 65, Freeland with 76, Cedar Springs 111 and Clare 155.
Top runners for Clare were Carter Peacock in 20th (19:49.9), Joseph Haupt 22nd (19:55.0), Braydewn Schmidt 31st (20:24.1), Hogan Walter 55th (21:40.4) and Cole Grundy 57th (21:43.0).
The Clare girls were seventh out of 14 teams. Ann Arbor Pioneer was first at 61, followed by Grand Haven at 83, Freeland at 165, Frankenmuth at 169 Cadillac at 220, Shepherd at 223 and Clare at 279.
Top runners for Clare were Sophia Buzzelli (19;52.3) in 10th, Leah Leis (21:40.1) in 38th, Lauren Leis (21:40.1) in 39th, Olivia Forsberg in 55th (22:38.3), Elizabeth Letherer in 57th (21:41.9). Emma Stotzel (23;25.8) in 75th, and Ava Robinson (23:59.5) in 83rd.
Clare will run on Sept. 14 at Carson City-Crystal in the Don Baese Invitational and has the first Jack Pine jamboree on Sept. 18.
