At this Monday’s city commissioners’ meeting, the board moved to recognize Margie Dill for her outstanding service to the community. Margie Dill served on the Clare Parks and Recreation Advisory Board for 10 years from 2016 to 2026.
During her years of service, Margie remained dedicated to serving the community and applied her skills and expertise to better the community in any way she could up until her resignation this April.
Some such instances of Margie’s upstanding service include, but are not limited to, helping organize parking during soccer season, and coordinating the CTE/RESD partnership for the Clare Pumpkin Run. Margie was also more than willing to help out at other programs and events whenever she was available.
In addition to serving on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, Margie is also a CTE counselor for the Clare-Gladwin RESD. The Clare-Gladwin RESD is an organization that partners with five local public schools in the Clare and Gladwin counties to provide hands-on learning outside of a traditional classroom setting.
As a CTE counselor, Margie helps match students to CTE programs based on their skills, career goals, and individual interests. Margie also helps set up student scheduling and work-based study opportunities.
Despite this, Margie never once wavered in her dedication or work put forth for the community.
As a result of Margie’s impressive track record with the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board over the past decade, it will likely be incredibly difficult to fill the void left by her absence.
At this week’s meeting, Margie was presented with a framed copy of the board’s resolution by Mayor Pat Humprey.
Margie also expressed her profound gratitude before the board, stating, “It’s been an experience working with Carol [Santini], Pete [Spitzley], and Joy [Simmer]. The proudest moment was when we were able to host soccer at the complex we worked so hard for. So, I appreciate all you’ve done.”
The board concluded by reiterating how grateful they are for everything Margie has done for the community.
