Clare defeats St. Francis

CLARE — Clare’s baseball team split with Traverse St. Francis on May 26 in nonleague action, winning the second game 7-4 after losing the first 10-0.
Dane Alexander was the winning pitcher in the second game allowing no hits and no runs in one inning. Blayn Bigelow was the starter, allowing six hits and four runs in seven innings. Alexander and Trent Francisco had two hits apiece.
Parker Smith and Andrew Moreno both had hits in the first game.
The Pioneers played Beal City at Central Michigan University on May 22 and lost 11-1 and 4-3. Moreno took the loss in the first game. JR Mast had an RBI and Smith had a base hit.
In the second game, a single by Brody Allen gave Clare a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Allen took the pitching loss for Clare. He had two RBIs. Alexander had two hits for Clare.
The Pioneers are 18-14 and play Chippewa Hills on Saturday at Cadillac in a district semifinal game.
