Countdown to Christmas – more holiday events around the area

Gift Ideas at the Clare Union Depot! A little shopping reminder: Christmas Eve is only 11 Days away and if you are looking for unique gifts, check out the local artists’ work at the Clare Union Depot. The Depot is open Monday through Friday 10 to 4. Also there are more special events planned to celebrate the season, so read on to plan your holidays!

Clare Cares Drive today Dec 13 – Many families in Clare County struggle every day to meet basic needs. Let’s come together to help them this holiday season during the 2nd Annual Clare Cares Drive today, hosted by North Central Insurance. Help us pack a Northern Logistics truck on Friday, December 13th! Here’s what our neighbors need the most: Non-Perishable Food and Per-sonal Care Items! Can’t make it but want to help? The Diary of Anne Frank will be performed tonight, tomorrow and Sunday, December 13, 14 and 15 at Harrison High School – Tonight’s and Tomorrow’s performances begin at 6:30 pm and Sunday (December 15), the play will begin at 2 pm. $5 admission.
Walk Thru Bethlehem Dec 13,14,&15 – Enjoy Clare’s drive-through experience. Begin your journey at 6 pm on the corner of Clare Avenue (Old US 27) and Rebak Way on the north side of Clare. Travel back in time to Bethlehem 2,000 years ago and experience all the wonder of events leading up to the birth of the Messiah, a new born babe in a manger. Enjoy Breakfast with Santa tomorrow! Camp Rotary is hosting Breakfast with Santa on Satur-day, December 14th from 8am-1pm. Admission is $8, kids 3 & under are FREE. Tickets will in-clude an all you can eat buffet, crafts, Christmas games, and photos with Santa!
Santa Breakfast Dec 14 at the Coleman Faith United Methodist Church at 209 E. Jefferson from 9:30 to 11 am. All you can eat pancakes, sausage, milk & Orange juice. Free for children & their families (limit 150people. Questions? Call Amy Hovey 989-289-3286.
Christmas in Harrison is Saturday! – Come to Harrison for the Cocoa Crawl (9 am to 6 pm) at participating businesses featuring sales and specials; Longer Table’s Annual Community Dinner is from 5 to 8 pm – donations appreciated; Visit Santa and Mrs. Claus after the parade at the Venue on Main.
The 4th Annual Harrison Lighted Christmas Parade is a big part of Harrison’s Christmas. Join or watch the Parade, sponsored by the Harrison Fire Department. Line-up is at the Harrison Fairgrounds at 5pm, and the Parade begins at 6 pm.
Don’t miss the Kid’s Holiday Event at Surrey Library tomorrow (Dec 14) – Surrey Township Library is having a Kid’s Holiday Event at the Library on Saturday December 14 from 10 am to noon. Youth ages 7 to 17 will be painting with the Elves. This is a free event. Space is limited. Call the Library today at 989.588.9782 to reserve your space.
Holidays around the world will be held at the Pere Marquette Library tomorrow, December 14 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Michigan storyteller, Lois Springnether-Kell will be there. A limited number of books will be given out to attendees, complements of the CCAC. Free crafts from 12:30 to 1:30 pm. There are a limited number of free books for those who attend. The books are compli-ments of the Clare County Arts Council. From 12:30 to 1:30, There will be free crafts.

Farwell is holding two more Winter Markets, one this year and one after the New Year – The first is tomorrow, December 14, and the second is February 8. They are from 9 to 1 and located at 124 W Illinois, Farwell. Contact Tonya for more information at tonya@villageoffarwell.org

Kari Lynch to perform at Ideal Theater – Local musician, Kari Lynch will perform a ‘Merry Lit-tle Christmas’ Show at the Clare Ideal Theatre on December 17 at 7 pm. Tickets are $10 and pro-ceeds will benefit Mid Michigan Community Action Agency. For information contact Mid Michigan Alliance at 989-386-3805.
Santa at the Coleman Area Library Dec. 20 – If you missed Santa earlier in the month. He will be visiting the Coleman Area Library Friday, December 20th, from 4:30pm-6:30pm! Mark your cal-endars!! Join us for a magical night with Santa as he reads ‘The Night Before Christmas’! Enjoy hot cocoa, crafts, and get your picture taken with Santa! This event is free and open to the public. All ages welcome.
Ugly Sweater Day Dec 21 – at Scooters in Harrison. Prizes and drink specials 9 pm.
Its not too late to make a beautiful gift or give yourself one. Learn to make Melted Crayon Jew-elry. A teen craft: Making Melted Crayon Jewelry, will be held at Pere’ Marquette District Li-brary in Clare From 3:30 to 4:30 pm Thursday December 19.
And check the CCAC newsletter each week if you are interested in something interesting and fun to do during those bleak, winter months ahead. The Clare County Arts Council will be sched-uling classes, so watch for them. In fact, if you are interested in taking a CCAC class, please con-tact Carron to register for a class. We have had people pay us through PayPal and we are not sure which class they are interested in signing up for CCAC and the instructor would like to make sure there is enough materials for the class.
