F. J. Loomis, MD celebrated his 100th birthday on December 28, 2024. In 1952 he and his wife Priscilla moved to Paw Paw upon completion of his service in the US Navy. He opened a medical practice which served newborns to grandparents, school physicals to home visits—and some-times weekend ‘clinic’ in his living room. He transitioned to emergency care at Lakeview Com-munity Hospital in the 1960s. In 1974 he fled the cold, snowy Michigan winters and moved to cen-tral North Carolina to serve in the ED in Pinehurst. He retired from practice in about 1990 and has spent these thirty-plus years enjoying his faith, family, and golf. He loves Paw Paw still and sends greetings to all who recall him.
