The Gobles Varsity team is off to a solid start this year and are 6-3 at this point. After a few tough losses the Tigers bounced back with a solid 47-27 conference win over Saugatuck. With that win over Saugatuck the Tigers now stand alone in first place in their division at 4 -0.
Juniors, Jaden Otis and Aden Newberry have led the way this year with both players averaging close to 15 points per game and leading the Tigers in rebounding as well.
Sophomore Carter Crippin continues to improve as the floor general and is giving the Tigers scoring and is dishing out close to six assists per game.
Defensively the Tigers rely their defense on a nightly basis and junior Aiden Beam is the catalyst for that. Beam’s intensity and grit on that end is a big reason the Tigers hold opponents down on a nightly basis, coach John Curtis said.
The Tigers have also had some solid offensive contributions from Gibson Curtis on certain nights and Nathan Ray and Alex Akers give the team some high level energy and minutes that are greatly needed as well.
Update; The Tigers are 7-4 after beating Martin 56-21 on Jan 25 and losing on Monday to Galesburg Augusta 64-56.
