MATTAWAN – Village of Mattawan Police Officer Scot Beyerstedt, who was killed in the line of duty on July 26, 2005, will be remembered during a 20th anniversary memorial service, Saturday, July 26, at 11 a.m. at Mattawan Memorial Park, Front Avenue and Main Street.
On the evening of July 25, 2005, Officer Beyerstedt, 21, was critically injured in a crash during a police pursuit of a wanted felon. He was rushed from the scene to a Kalamazoo hospital, where he died from his injuries the following day.
