Mattawan robotics finished in top three

Van Buren County schools fared very well in a FIRST Robotics competition held last weekend, March 11 and 12, at Gull Lake High School. Mattawan High School’s Wired Cats 5675 captured one of the top three team alliances from among 32 schools that participated. The team also received the Excellence in Engineering Award, which celebrates the team that demonstrates a professional approach to the design process. Paw Paw High School’s 2 Paw Robotics 5462, which finished in the Top 10, received the Quality Award, which celebrates machine robustness in concept and fabrication. South Haven High School’s robotics team, Ramageddon, received the Entrepreneurship Award, awarded to a team that displays entrepreneurial enthusiasm as well as demonstrates the vital planning and business skills to ensure a self-sustaining program. Mattawan and Paw Paw’s robots are shown in competition as they both climb, then hang from bars to receive points.
