A 72-year-old Midland County man died in a house fire last Friday morning.
According to a release from Midland County Sheriff Myron Green, Deputies were called to the East Bradford Road home in Mount Haley Township to assist the Midland Township Fire Department in investigating the fatal house fire that took the man’s life.
The fire was reported at 4:33 a.m. last Friday and the caller reported that the single story brick home was already engulfed in flames.
Once the blaze was extinguished, fire personnel found the man in his bedroom.
“Damage estimates are unknown at this time,” the Sheriff’s release said, but “the structure appears to be a total loss.”
The State Fire Marshal was called to the scene to assist in determining the cause of the fire. Although it is still under investigation, “Initial indications are that the fire is believed to have been accidental,” the release said.
The Midland Township Fire Department was assisted in fighting the fire by Lee Township Fire Department, Homer Township Fire Department, Breckenridge/Wheeler Township Fire Department, Mid-Michigan Emergency Medical Services and personnel from the Sheriff’s Office.
