Obituary: Ann Gould (Childs) Gray

Ann Gould (Childs) Gray passed peacefully in Douglas, Michigan, on June 28, 2024, at the age of 80. Born in Michigan City, Indiana, on January 26, 1944, to her late parents Theron Jr. and Ruth (Ramlow) Childs. Ann lived a life marked by kindness, intelligence, and creativity. Ann’s career was a testament to her dedication to her community, serving as a secretary with the Commercial Record Newspaper and Graphic Artist/Proofreader for Flashes Publishing, and Lay speaker/secretary for Ganges UMC of Fennville. She was not only committed to her professional roles but also flourished as a talented sign painter, book illustrator, and artist, passions she pursued with great love and skill throughout her life. Her love for animals was evident in the compassionate care she provided to her many horses and dogs over the years. Ann’s spirit of nurturing extended to her family, which was the center of her universe. In a life rich with artistic achievement and service, Ann’s most cherished moments were those spent with her children and grandchildren, imparting to them the wisdom and love that will be her enduring legacy. Ann will be deeply missed, and her spirit felt forever in the hearts of those she touched with her warmth and grace.

She is survived by her children, Joe Gray and Carissa Gray-Sobol; her grandson, Dustin Gray; her great-grandchildren, Asher and Skyler Gray; and her brothers, Theron Childs III and Jeffery Childs.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Theron Jr. and Ruth (Ramlow) Childs.

Ann’s Memorial Service will be at 1:00pm on Friday, July 12th, 2024, with an hour visitation beforehand at Ganges United Methodist Church located at 2218 68th Street, Fennville, MI 49408. Luncheon to follow the service at the Church.

Donations may be made in Ann’s name to either Ganges United Methodist Church at 2218 68th Street, Fennville, MI 49408, or Al-Van Humane Society Adoption & Community Education Center at 07591 Blue Star Hwy #9769, South Haven, MI 49090.

  1. My best friend from the time we were toddlers… I will miss her spirit always! You always think you have more time to connect until you don’t! Call someone you’ve been meaning to, write that note, make that visit.
