Obituary: Margie Emmons

On Monday, July 25, 2022, Margie Emmons, 92, passed away peacefully at her home in Marion. Margie was born November 20, 1929 to William and Sarah (Flewelling) Lee in Lansing, Michigan. She graduated with the class of 1948, from Everett High School in Lansing and didn’t waste any time marrying the love of her life, Donald F. Emmons, on April 23rd, of that year. Margie and Donald built a life together, raising five children in Lansing, before moving to Evart in 1984, after Donald’s retirement.
Margie enjoyed her life, spending time with her family at their cabin on the Muskegon River and decorating cakes. She was active in the Evart Quilting Club, attended the Evart Methodist Church, and a faithful participant at Curves, for many years. Margie will be remembered as a woman who liked to be direct and decisive with her thoughts and actions. Her family will recall her being a spitfire, but more importantly, they will remember her as a great mom, who was willing to work hard to be able to celebrate birthdays and holidays.
Margie is survived by: her children, Mark (Katy) Emmons of Dimondale, Penny Emmons of Lansing, Renee (Michael) Michaud of Marlette and Leonard (Debbie) Emmons of Marion; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.
Margie was preceded in death by: her parents, William and Sarah; husband of 71 years, Donald, in 2019; son, Glen, in 2013; brother, Albert; sisters, Alice Lounsberry and Laura Saxman and beloved dogs, Rusty and Betty (who was sometimes just as feisty as Margie).
A time to fellowship together is being planned for a later date. Until that time please share with us online, at, by clicking the Tribute Wall tab on Margie’s page.
