Obituary: Patricia Ann Haines

Patricia Ann Haines, 77, of Three Rivers, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Three Rivers Health surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 22, 1947 in Three Rivers, the daughter of Richard and Mary (Cosgrove) Crego who gave her a wonderful childhood. She would often reminisce on memories of growing up with her many cousins, friends and of course, her sister Lyn. Pat graduated from Three Rivers High School with the Class of 1965 where she participated in the marching band playing clarinet. She fondly remembered this experience in later years as she listened to and “played” one of her favorite songs, Clarinet Candy.
She met her future husband, Larry Haines, at the iconic Lee’s Drive In after Larry’s return from his service in the US Navy. They were married on August 4, 1967 which began their 57 year adventure together. At that time, Pat worked at the Three Rivers Commercial as a typesetter and proofreader. Later, she was instrumental in the success of Haines Plumbing Service as the bookkeeper and office manager, managing those duties for 38 years.
While continuing her work duties, Pat became a proud stay-at-home mom to her three daughters, Michelle, Kim, and Nickie. She was able to volunteer for many school activities and became a Girl Scout leader for the girls and their friends. Those memories are something that she and the girls discussed frequently. She loved her daughters with all her heart. That love continued with the birth of her granddaughters and most recently her great-grandson. Pat was enthusiastic about all holidays, but especially loved Christmas where she was able to decorate to perfection and spoil her kids and grandkids! She always made it so special.
She loved to travel with Larry and her family, visiting many wonderful places. Most involved sunshine, swimming pools, beach, and the ocean which she adored! Disney World was one of her favorites and she liked to share It’s a Small World with her kids and grandkids. She also visited many rural areas of the country through her travels to the yearly Cushman Club of America national meets, where she met many interesting people and close friends. You could often see Pat enjoying one of her other favorite activities, which was riding around Three Rivers in their vintage pink Thunderbird, where she always wanted the top down!
Unfortunately, Pat struggled with many health issues over the past 25 years, but with the love and support of her husband and daughters, she handled them with dignity and grace. She was a fighter and set an example for her family of how to deal with adversity.
Pat and Larry created a wonderful life together, full of love and memories and she will be missed by all that knew her. Remaining to cherish those memories are her husband, Larry Haines; daughters, Michelle (Brian) Milnamow and Kim (Scott) Roderick; grandchildren, Briana Roderick, Morgan Roderick, Rachel (Shane) Rodenburg, and Olivia Milnamow; great-grandson, Nolan Adams; sister, Lyn (Scott) Crose; several beloved nieces and nephews.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents and by her daughter, Nichole “Nickie” Haines.
Her family will receive friends on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Hohner Funeral Home, 1004 Arnold St., Three Rivers. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Derl Keefer officiating. Larry and the girls will take Pat for her final ride in the pink Thunderbird to her final resting place, with Private interment at Prairie River Cemetery.
Donations in Patricia’s memory may be directed to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, or a charity of choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
