Russell George Heinzen, 85, of Paw Paw, passed away peacefully Friday, May 10, 2024, at Rose Arbor, Kalamazoo. Cremation has taken place. He was born July 8, 1938, in Maple Plain, Minnesota, the son of Harvey Heinzen and Florence (Japps) Heinzen.
On June 29, 1997, he married the love of his life; Ruth Elizabeth (Allen) Heinzen, who preceded in death, Feb. 9, 2022.
Also preceded in death were his parents, Harvey and Florence, and his step-son, David Thell.
Russ is survived by two brothers, Howard Heinzen and Dennis (Lois) Heinzen; one sister, DeeDee (George) Deluca; two adopted daughters, Debra Hunter and Renee (Marty) Hedin; one step-son, Jeff (Jody) Loehrs; seven grandchildren, Candace (Dan) Brown, Charity (Dave) Pikkaraine, Phillip, Keri-Ann (Ryan), Kyle Loehrs, Amanda (Nicholas) Dohrn, and Kennen Loehrs; 17 great-grandchildren, Cameron Meyer, Cameron Hunter, Cedric Swanson, Reece Pikkaraine, Alexis Hunter, Justin Brown, Lucy Loehrs, Dakotah, Landon, Ryder, Hannah, Carter, Gracie, Aralynn, Jake, Candice and Christine.
Russ was a dedicated over-the-road truck driver for 35 years. He always enjoyed reliving those days through his many stories of his adventures with his family and friends. In his later years, Russ kept active and busy tinkering with his many tools, fixing broken things and creating new things. Russ even loved summer yard work and winter snow clearing.
Family and friends were invited to a memorial gathering, Sunday, May 26, at Berkshire Apartments, 308 E Michigan Ave., Paw Paw. A memorial gathering will also be held in Minnesota, where Russ will be reunited with Ruth at their final resting place at a later date.
