Paw Paw baseball sweeps South Haven

PAW PAW – The Paw Paw baseball team on May 21 swept a doubleheader from South Haven on senior night. Pitching from Dylan Abnet and Jake Hindenach were dominant.
In game No. 1 the Red Wolves won 7-3. Abnet threw a complete game, no earned runs, and struck out nine. Leading the offense was Landon Buhl and Cade Owen. Buhl went 2-4 with a double, triple, and 3 RBIs.
Bowen was 2-for-3 with a stolen base. Gunnar Goodell was 1-2 with a double, an RBI, and two walks. Maverick went 1-3 with a clutch two-RBI single. Ryan Holmes added a single and an RBI. Hindenach chipped in with a single, walk, and stolen base.
In game No. 2 all the scoring took place in the first inning when Hindenach hit a two-run home run and completely dominated on the mound. The Red Wolves won 2-0. Jake threw a complete game with no earned run, one walk, two hits, and 13 strikeouts.
The only other hit was a single by Maverick Johnson.
“Jacob called two great games behind the plate and caught every inning in sweltering heat,” Paw Paw coach Derek Vanderburg said.
On May 22, Paw Paw played Constantine on Wednesday and often and cruised to a 16-6 victory. Bryn Carlsen got the win on the mound going five innings, no walks, and four strikeouts. Remi pitched a scoreless final frame. The Red Wolves were led offensively by Ryan Holmes, Hindenach, Major and Dylan Abnet. Holmes went 3-3 with a double, 2 RBIs, and 2 BB. Jake was 2-4 with a triple, HR, and 4 RBIs.
Jake now holds the single season triple record for Paw Paw. Major went 2-4 with a triple and 2 RBIs. Abnet was 2-2. Gunnar Goodell was 1-1 with a double, HBP, and two walks. Drew was 1-1 with an RBI single. The Red Wolves record is now 21-11-1.
