ALLEGAN – Allegan County sheriff department deputies reported on Sunday at 8:50 p.m., first responders were dispatched to a personal injury crash on 130th Ave near 24th St in Monterey Township.
A Hopkins Fire Department member came across a single vehicle, motorcycle crash, with two victims. Allegan County Deputies, and Gun Lake Tribal PD Officers came to the scene. Life saving measures were applied but the male victim died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Deputies say the female victim was transported by Aero Med Helicopter with serious injuries. They added evidence at the scene indicates the vehicle was traveling east on 130th Ave when the vehicle ran off the road to the right, and impacted the side of a drainage ditch.
The Allegan County Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash. The identification of the vehicle occupants is not being released until next of kin have been notified and the investigation ends. Deputies did say speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.
The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Gun Lake Tribal Police Department, Hopkins Fire Department, Wayland Area EMS, Aero Med, and the Allegan County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The sheriff’s department last week released the name of a victim from a June 6 fatality. The deceased subject’s name is Joseph Perry Underwood, 34 of Grand Junction.
On June 6 at 6:21 p.m. first responders were dispatched to a personal injury crash on M-40 Highway near Lake View Drive in Trowbridge Township. Allegan County Deputies along with Allegan City officers reported it was a single vehicle accident and the only occupant, the driver, had been ejected from the vehicle. The driver succumbed to the injuries sustained in the crash. Evidence at the scene indicates that the driver of the vehicle was traveling south on M-40 when the driver lost control and crashed into a tree.
