Orvis faces felony charges in Marion shooting

MARION – The Mount Pleasant State Police Post announced in a press release that on Sunday, around 6:45 p.m. it responded to a shooting report on Main Street in the village of Marion.
According to published reports, Gabriel Charles Richards, 31, of Marion, was taken to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City where he is recovering from injuries sustained from the shooting incident.
Reports indicated a 36-year-old Marion man is facing felony charges in connection to the shooting.
Reports from the state police added that Dave Ervin Orvis, 36, of Marion, was arraigned on Tuesday of this week in Osceola District Court on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, felonious assault.
According to the police, the case remains under investigation and there was no further comment on the incident and no other details provided.
Assisting at the scene were officers from the Michigan State Police Cadillac Post, Osceola County Sheriff’ office and Mecosta County Central Dispatch.
