Otsego golf qualifies for State Finals

ADA—The Otsego boys golf team is headed to the Division 2 State Finals.
Competing in the 18-team regional at Quail Ridge Golf Course in Ada, the Bulldogs posted a team score of 311 to snag the third and final state-qualifying slot.
Grand Rapids Christian won the regional title with a 296, while Grand Rapids South Christian was runner-up at 311.
Plainwell—which finished sixth at 331—will also be represented at the State Finals, as Drew Rayman shot a 75 to tie for the top individual qualifying spot.
Hamilton was eighth at 343, Wayland was ninth at 347 and Allegan was 12th at 354.
Junior Spencer Shearer led the way for Otsego, tying for second with a score of 73. Classmate Jurian Shaffer was 12th at 78, and freshman Owen Santman was 15th at 79.
Junior Landon Eastman and sophomore Karson Holladay tied for fourth for Otsego at 81.
Top performers for the other Allegan County teams were: Theo Oddy for Wayland, 16th at 80; Logan Locatis for Allegan, 16th at 80; and Jackson Hansen and Grant Petroelje, who tied for 29th at 84.
The Division 2 State Finals are slated to begin on Friday, June 7, at Forest Akers West on the campus of Michigan State University.
